Announcement of JAASC 24th Annual Bon-Dance Festival

2019 chairs release public event announcement

On behalf of JAASC, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our appreciation for your continued assistance and cooperation to our organization. We are honored to announce that our annual cultural event “Bon-Dance Festival” will be held again soon. This makes our 24th Bon-Dance Festival.

The purposes of this event are: 1. Contributing to the communities by introducing our culture to develop close relationship between Japanese and Americans in the area. 2. Proving an opportunity for Japanese children who are currently residing in the area to experience their own culture. The staffs at JAASC are very excited and are preparing for this festival. McAlister Square is the popular indoor place, and the event will be held again in this building. We hope to see everybody would join and enjoy the festival.

  1. Date and Time: August 24, 2019 (Sat.) 12:30PM – 4:30PM  
    ※Door opens at 11:30 a.m.
  2. Place: McAlister Square
    225 South Pleasantburg Drive
    Greenville, SC 29607
  3. Admission: Free (and Free Parking Spaces are available)
    Raffle tickets for any paid attractions are sold at the reception area during the festival or can be purchased in advance.
  4. Attractions: Traditional Bon Dance: Free Style — welcoming anyone to join us. “Wadaiko” Drum Performance: Presented by “Ronin” Taiko Group, Children can also experience playing “Taiko” that is prepared by JAASC.
    Food and Beverages: Various “Bento” Lunch boxes are available
    Games: Raffle Drawing, Fishing Yo-Yo Balloons, and etc.
    Toys: Old time toys are replicated
    Art in Calligraphy: Names in English are expressed in Kanji by Calligraphy Brush
    Art of Folding Papers: Various Styles of Origami
  5. Other:
    Legal service provided by Consulate of Japan in Atlanta for registration of overseas voting, issuing or renewal of passport, and applications for various certificates
    Japanese Art of: Fencing, Archery, Tea Ceremony, and Flower Arrangement
    Travel Information provided by Agencies All Drawing Works by Candidates
    (Children) for the Poster of 24th Bon-Dance Festival will be displayed
