Seminar: Manga and Comics A different Cultural Base

Professor Peggy Wood of Piedmont Technical College will provide a seminar comparing manga and western comics. The seminar will be a brief introduction to the basic differences between manga and comics from a cultural standpoint and how this difference in treatment may be leading to the industry boom we see today followed by a Q&A session.

Cultural displays, informational booths, performances and more. The Greer Goes Global international festival celebrates the diversity in Upstate South Carolina.
Drop by the Japan booth to see JAASC – we will have baked goods and onigiri for sale, the Kimono Kai will be collecting donations for Yukata Dressup, and Gachimaya will be performing!
JAASC’s Language Table series is open to all English and Japanese learners who want an excellent opportunity to practice listening and speaking skills while building relationships in a friendly, bilingual environment.
Everyone is welcome, but it is best if you have some basic level of English and Japanese.

Do you play golf and want to make a difference in US-Japanese relationships? The Japan Affairs Committee organizes charity golf tournaments throughout the year for our members. Funds and donations from these events support the longevity of the JAASC programs and initiatives.
